소액결제 현금화는 상품권, 게임 아이템 등을 결제한 잠시 뒤 인증번호 등 정보를 회사에 넘기면 수수료를 떼고 즉시 현금을 지급하는 것을 말한다. ‘급전이 요구되는 노인들이 흔히 이용하는데, 실상은 고금리 대출에 사기 확률이 높아 정보통신망법상 불법으로 규정하고 있습니다.

하지만 일부 불법 업체의 신용카드결제, 구글아이디어사용료, 스마트폰소액결제현금화 서비스 진행 시 개인 아이디어를 빼돌려 악용하는 스미싱 등 관련 피해 사례 역시 보고 되고 있습니다. 그래서 이용자들은 서비스 사용 전 피해 예방 수칙을 반드시 확인하고 이를 준수해야 한다.

지난해 금감원은 소액결제 현금화 등 불법금융홍보를 방송통신심의위원회에 신청해 사이트 폐쇄와 게시글 삭제, 계정 중지 등을 결정했지만 ‘언론 보도에는 대응하지 않았다. 금감원 지인은 “언론의 보도는 광고로 규정할 수는 없어 보여서 판단까다로운 면이 있을 것입니다”고 하였다.
